While the recent hail storm in Dallas Texas was over rather quickly, it’s aftermath has already been labeled as a “catastrophe” by insurance companies with many of them sending in mobile claim centers.
The Insurance Council of Texas now says the cost of the storm may exceed $400 million, which is more than the tab for the April tornadoes in Arlington and Forney.
For homeowners in the historic Lakewood district, the damage has been nothing short in shocking, as many of these residents have antique glass windows that require a specialist to repair.
John Hofker from Lakewood Home Repair told News 8 that restoring the window might cost even more — possibly $50,000. He’s looking at companies in Europe hoping to find some of the rare glass.
Even with the first estimate coming in at 400 Million, more recent estimates have adjusted the total damage for the hailstorm to between $1 and $2 billion, compared to the $1-billion price tag that came with April’s tornado outbreak.
And yet, for Luz Barron, of Dallas, who had four cars and her home’s roof damaged by hail, she can’t get an adjuster to even come out to her home to inspect the damage. “Nobody comes,” she said. “Nobody.”
In situations such as this, often both insurance companies and roofing companies simply become overwhelmed with the extent of the damage and cannot keep up with the homeowner’s needs.
But this is also why upon hearing this news, ASAP ROOFING, a Denver, Colorado based company headed out to Dallas, and to date, has repaired several roofs there already.
Being nationwide is important to a roofing company like ASAP because they understand that hailstorms can be both catastrophic for homeowners and overwhelm the local insurance and roofing companies.
